Conceptual Modeling

The Conceptual Modeling Tool Kit (CMTK) Product is a tool which supports the architecture and engineering of complex computer systems. Currently, system engineers and/or managers do not completely address the issues of today’s heterogeneous, distributed, and concurrent systems until the system has reached operational stage.

Using CMTK, engineers can visualize, validate and verify behavior of complex systems before they are built. This a priori knowledge of how the system will operate allows for better decisions and certain risk mitigation.

Upon entering data into CMTK, engineers easily create a layout of the system’s architecture which aids in system assessment from the requirement through implementation stages. When executed, this conceptual view brings to light integration and feasibility issues, or effects of system changes from a high-level perspective; all prior to implementation. Assessment of proposed technical solutions enable users to avoid costly and time-consuming engineering errors before they are entrenched problems.

CMTK uses a stimulus/reaction model in which the stimuli and their attendant reactions are defined by the engineer during data entry. Animation of the system occurs when the CMTK is executed.
