Object Oriented (OO) Systems Engineering

KBSim's OO Systems Engineering approach facilitates and revolves around a living conceptual framework called a Logical Architecture. We believe that a correctly engineered system is one which provides continuity from the domain analysis phase (conceptual objects) through the software implementation phase (software objects) and into the test phase (components).

Below are some system considerations which are addressed effectively by our OO process:

• New Technology Insertion - Can the system be upgraded to accept new technology components as they become available?
• Scalability - Will the system expand to handle 2X or 100X, etc... its anticipated capacity?
• Distributability and Portablility - Can the system be spread over multiple servers/locations and/or heterogeneous platforms?
• Interoperability - Can the system be easily integrated with other systems?
• Security - Are system information/data and other system resources accessible to users based on their "need to know"?
• Reliability and Availability - Will the system stay on-line, recover gracefully from power hits, etc...
• Maintainability - Can the system be easily modified/changed to accomodate new requirements?
